I enjoy the colour choice & design stage of a project, it requires lots of photography and yarn shopping (two of my favourite pursuits other than weaving)
The commission piece is in conjunction with the internationally acclaimed interior designer Christian Lyon CLD for an entryway with a large stairway drop which suits a textile sculptural hanging rather than weaving a ‘flat’ art work. I will be weaving six 5.4m approx warps in various textures that will be seamed down the selvedges to create tubular hangings that will be hung from the high ceiling.
Welcome back, I’ve missed you. What an exciting project. Love the colours and patterns. Look forward to seeing this proceeding.
Thanks Dianne….yep, its been awhile….♥
That sounds like a fantastic project and those are gorgeous colours to work with. Looking forward to seeing more!
Delicious, rich colors, Shirley. Fantastic.
What an interesting commission, have fun!
Thanks all, I’m mad busy winding warps at the moment…great fun though♥
I can’t wait to see it!
Thanks Alice, how are the emu feathers going? I must post some pics of the scarfs I wove with your beautiful handspun…♥ Shirley
Hello! I don’t mean to harass you, but did you get my emails? I just worry Gmails don’t reach the intended destinations some times. Thank you. Meg
Got ’em, Ta♥
Exciting news, Shirley, congratulations. But what is it an entryway to? Commercial, or residential? Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing photos of your piece installed.
Best, Fern
It’s for an entry to a house (a private dwelling), sorry forgot to say that!♥
